Blizzard to Give Compensation After Diablo Immortal Scandal

Blizzard Scandal Diablo Immortal

Blizzard promises Diablo Immortal players Legendary Gem compensation after controversy.

Blizzard promises that it’s looking to compensate with Legendary Gems in Diablo Immortal after players called for refunds following unannounced changes to some legendary gems in the fantasy RPG.

A spokesperson for Activision Blizzard has said that they are considering Legendary Gems compensation in Diablo Immortal following ongoing outcry around a recent update to the fantasy game. The new Diablo Immortal patch 1.6.2 introduced a number of changes to the Blizzard RPG game. The most controversial one, was a description change in one of the Legendary Gems on sale in the real money in-game shop.

The update for the Legendary Gem: Blessing of the Worthy clarified that its effect provided bonus damage based on a character’s current life, not their total life as the description had previously stated inside the game notes. This can dramatically reduce the damage and create a huge gap – especially for characters such as Barbarians that have a large life pool total and that use skills such as Undying Rage to continue fighting while having Life as low as 1 HP remaining.

This created a problem and made matters only worse because the gem has been on real money sale in several bundles on the Diablo Immortal in-game store – approximately over $100 USD if you choose to buy all the bundles. As a result, players who had bought the Legendary Gem via microtransactions called and demanded for Blizzard to refund their purchases, or at least provide an equivalent value in Eternal Orbs, to compensate for this as they felt the bundles were sold under false advertising.

Diablo Immortal community manager SinfulScribe has now provided an update (official Diablo Immortal discord post) on the matter, saying that Blizzard has “been looking into issues concerning the accuracy of the descriptions of certain legendary gems.” They highlight that the team understands “how central these gems’ effects are to players’ builds and progression” and that it is “digging into the impact these issues have caused so that we can deliver compensation to affected players.”

As to what this compensation will be and when it is likely to arrive, SinfulScribe explains that the investigation “will require some time and data,” but says that “as soon as we have more details on how we’ll proceed, we’ll share that with you.” Players in the comments already feel more relieved and express their thanks for the news, but also mention that it took way too long, both to address the issue and to give any comment on the possibility of compensation following the update.

Our recently updated Diablo Immortal tier list and Paragon System Guide should help you out, especially if you are looking to increase your Damage and Life. Following the latest Update, If you’re planning to use the Server Transfer Feature players warn about losing their Deeds of Valor and lose up to 25.000 Life.
