Reforge Stones and Family Set Bonus Explained
Upgrading Your Gear To Unlock Set Bonuses
Upgrading a Legendary Item at Blacksmith, will unlock Bonus Attributes at ranks 6, 11, 16 and more recently a 4th Family Bonus: % increase buff at Rank 21 (family set bonus only). To upgrade any Item you will need Scrap Materials, Dust and Shards. (these can be acquired by Salvaging Items at the Blacksmith, Defeating Enemies, Looting Chests, Completing Events and Side Quests). Rank Transfer between items can be done for free without taking any loss. In case you found a better item and you want to put it on just click Equip and choose Transfer option.
Reforge Stones and Family Specific Reforge Stones are endgame materials used to unlock Bonus Attributes on the Legendary Items and can permanently increase stats such as: your Damage by more than 160%, your Life by more than 10%, damage and CC (crowd control) resistance, PvP (player vs. player) and PvE (player vs enemy) attributes.
Reforge Stones and Item Reforging
Reforge stones can only be used after getting a piece of gear to rank 6 and can be done at the Blacksmith. Extra Bonus Attributes slots unlock at rank 11, 16, 21 and beyond.
*Please be aware that Bonus Attributes are reduced by 66% in PvP (player vs. player)
Reforge Stones types and how to acquire them
Reforge Stones are the material the Blacksmith needs to reroll a Bonus Attribute on a piece of upgraded gear. (higher thank rank 6)
There are two types of Reforge Stones:
Reforge Stones used to obtain Random Bonus Attribute
Family Specific Reforge Stones used to obtain Family Specific Bonuses
Using a normal Reforge Stone will choose randomly from all the Bonus Attributes available in the game; using a Family Specific Reforge Stone will limit it to the Bonus Attributes within that family.
To change this bonus, visit the Blacksmith and click Reforge. After the reroll you can choose to Keep Original Attribute if you don't like the new one, or Choose New Attribute if you wish to replace the selected attribute. The Reforge Stone will be consumed either way.
Where to find Reforge Stones and Family Specific Reforge Stones

Family Set Bonus and Permanent Stats
Family Set Bonus unlocks at Rank 16+ when all three attributes on a Legendary item are from the same family. Having 4 or more of the same Family Attribute increases the Family Set Bonus by 10% (unlocks at rank 21 and beyond). You cannot roll the same attribute twice or more on the same Legendary Item (example: 2 x “Maximum Life Increased“ or more) but you can re-roll the % outcome of it. (example: you can choose to re-roll the attribute “Maximum Life Increased 0.5%” and hope to get “Maximum Life Increased 1.0%” if you are lucky enough)
There are 6 primary item slots — head, chest, shoulders, pants, weapon and off-hand. You can choose to have different or the same Family Set Bonus on each items. Stacking 3 or more of the same Family Set Bonus (example: Wildfire Family Attribute on Head, Chest, Pants) decreases the internal cooldown. Each Family Set Bonus have a 80 seconds internal cooldown.
Before you make any purchase it's best to review which set bonus makes the most sense. Whilst some are better in PvP (bonus attributes are reduced by 66% in player vs. player), others are exceptionally good in the PvE aspects of the game. It can get quite expensive to line them up, so make an informed decision and stick to it.

Family Set Bonus Explained
To understand how important Family Set Bonuses are, here is the amount of Damage you will get if you would have Vengeance Family Set on all 6 items.
In this example we will take in consideration maximum Vengeance Family Attributes.
Attribute 1: Attack Speed 2.0%
Attribute 2: Damage to players increased 1.5%
Attribute 3: Damage to enemies suffering loss of control increased 5.0%
Attribute 4: Damage to shielded enemies increased by 6.0%
Family Set Bonus: Your Primary Attacks have a 2% chance to increase all damage you deal by 100% for 1 second.
4th Vengeance Family Bonus damage increased by 10%
Let’s assume that we have these Vengeance Family Attributes on all 6 Primary Items: Head, Chest, Shoulders, Legs, Weapon and Off-Hand.
Here are the results:
Attack Speed 2.0% x 6 = 12%
Damage to players increased 1.5% x 6 = 9.0%
Damage to enemies suffering loss of control increased 5.0% x 6 = 30%
Damage to shielded enemies increased by 6.0% x 6 = 36%
Family Set Bonus: Your Primary Attacks have a 2% x 6 = 12% chance to increase all damage you deal by 100% for 1 second. Internal Cooldown reduced to 13 seconds from 80 seconds.
4th Vengeance Family Bonus damage increased by 10% x 6 = 60%
The same logic apples to all other stacking Family Attributes and Family Set Bonuses. On top of that having the same Family Set on multiple items drastically decreases the internal cooldown and increases the chance to trigger the special effect.

In addition, if you have 4 of the same Family Attributes on the same item, the Family Set Bonus will unlock a 10% increase Bonus Family Attribute (see picture above with “Heart of Vengeance” Chest)
