Legendary Gems Guide Diablo Immortal

Legendary Gems provide Combat Rating, Resonance as well as strong unique effects. You can equip up to 8 Legendary Gems at a time, socketed into your Primary Gear: 2x Main Hand, 2x Off-Hand, Helm, Chest, Shoulders Pants. These gems increase in power up to rank 10, gaining insane bonuses.

Some of these Legendary Gems are more common than others and they can be categorized by their Star level: 1 star, 2 star and 5 star. All Legendary Gems will unlock another Attribute at Rank 3 with all attributes getting stronger as higher ranks are obtained. When 5 star Legendary Gems are dropped or crafted they come with a random star count between 2-5. As one would expect, 5 star gems are immensely more powerful than 1 and 2 star gems, so whenever you get one of these you'll likely want to work it into your build!

Once rank 10 is reached, Legendary Gems can be used to Awaken Legendary item. Below we go over all the Legendary Gems in the game

Ranking Up Legendary Gems

Ranking up Legendary Gems increases their Combat Rating Boost, Resonance bonus as well as their primary effects stats. When getting to Rank 3 Gems unlock another effect and at Rank 5 they grant increased Magic Find. In order to rank up you need to acquire duplicates of the same gem and use Gem Power from breaking down other Legendary Gems. Gem Power comes from breaking down any Legendary Gem, with high star and rank gems giving more of this resource. It's important to keep the Legendary Gems you do obtain, even if they're undesirable to use as this process is quite costly. 1, 2 and 5 star gems all respectively require different amounts of Gem Power in order to rank up, with 5 star gems costing the most to obtain their highest ranks. Any extra Gem Power that is left after an upgrade will turn into Gem Fragments and be sent to your inventory for later use.

1 Star Legendary Gems

At rank 1 these provide 8 Combat Rating15 Resonance and a powerful effect. Increased Magic Find by 5% (unlocks at Rank 5). When ranking up they will gain +4 Combat Rating, increased Resonance and increased stats to their effect. At Rank 10 they will give 44 Combat Rating. These can be crafted from scratch using Runes, which can be found when doing Elder Rifts with Crests. The overall power of these gems is minimal compared to 2 and 5 star gems, but some of them are decent enough for use until you find better replacements. Crafting these to rank 10 can still be beneficial for Awakening items since they are by far the cheapest to rank up and easiest to obtain.

2 Star Legendary Gems

At rank 1 these will provide 12 Combat Rating, 30 Resonance and a powerful effect. Increased Magic Find by 10% (unlocks at Rank 5). When ranking up they will gain +4 Combat Rating, increased Resonance and increased stats to their effect. At Rank 10 they will give 66 Combat Rating. These can be crafted from scratch using Runes, which can be found when doing Elder Rifts with Crests. Many of these gems have great effects and uses in many game modes. There aren't many 5 star gems in the game currently and finding them is challenging, so ranking up 2 star gems is a great use of your resources.

5 Star Legendary Gems

These are the most powerful Legendary Gems in the game as they provide massive Combat Rating, Resonance and amazing effects. Increased Magic Find for all 5-star gems, regardless of Star Count, is 15% unlocked at rank 5. These gems drop with 2-5 stars unlocked and the number of stars also affects their bonuses. At rank 1 these provide 12-24 Combat Rating and 30-100 Resonance depending on their star count. When ranking up they gain Combat Rating and Resonance based on their Star Count. For example:

  • A Rank 1 Seeping Bile with 4 Stars filled in gives 22 Combat Rating and 80 Resonance and will also give +22 Combat Rating for every rank achieved.

  • A Rank 1 Seeping Bile with 5 Stars filled in gives 24 Combat Rating and 100 Resonance and will also give +24 Combat Rating for every rank achieved.

  • At Rank 10 with 5 Stars these give 240 Combat Rating.

These gems have a much lower drop chance than their counterparts and cannot be directly crafted at the Jeweler like the lower options. However they can be crafted using the random recipe that is available. The only other ways to obtain these are from doing Elder Rifts , crafting with Telluric Pearls or purchasing them from other players on the Marketplace. Whenever you do obtain some you'll almost certainly want to take advantage of their supreme power.

This applies to all quality levels of 5-star gems (2/5, 3/5, 4/5, and 5/5)

Increasing the stars on a 5 Star Legendary Gem

Remember that gems drop with a random amount of stars unlocked, and stars on gem can also be upgraded by using the gem with the most stars as the duplicate material so don't make the mistake of ever selling a gem that has all 5 stars unlocked.

You can get a quick look at your overall Resonance and what gems are contributing to which slots by clicking the yellow Resonance orb, found in your Inventory page just to the left of the Charm slot. You will be able to see immediately where you are getting your Resonance from and the slots.
