How and why I ranked them like so:

AoE is King! Characters with AoE-Target damage are placed higher because the endgame content focuses on more than one target.

Altough characters with high Single Target DPS have also a slight bias as the current META has 1 Elites. (ex: Boss)

Other stats taken in consideration:

Total DPS with the best in slot build
AoE vs Single Target DPS per turn
Team comps and versatility (ex: Jianxin—multirole)
